Also found here is Neverputt, a hot-seat multiplayer miniature golf game, built on the physics and graphics engine of Neverball.

Neverball and Neverputt are both known to run under Linux, Win2K/XP, FreeBSD, and Mac OSX. Hardware accelerated OpenGL is required. A 500MHz processor is recommended.

Western Quake 3 started as a mod for Quake 3, now thanks to the stand alone project and (of course) the release of the Quake3 Engine source, it is possible to play it as a stand-alone full game (does not require the q3 game).

Platinum Arts Sandbox is Educational Software that enables kids to design their own 3D worlds quickly and easily. Through the program kids can make their own mazes, castles, forts, cities, etc in minutes. Kids are also a part of the world when they are creating it, so they can watch the results of their changes as they are happening. Hedgewars is a turn based strategy game (Worms-style) in which each player controls a team of several hedgehogs. During the course of the game, players take turns with one of their hedgehogs. They then use whatever tools and weapons are available to attack and kill the opponents' hedgehogs, thereby winning the game. Hedgehogs may move around the terrain in a variety of ways, normally by walking and jumping but also by using particular tools such as the "Rope" or "Parachute", to move to otherwise inaccessible areas. Each turn is time-limited to ensure that players do not hold up the game with excessive thinking or moving.

Rigs of Rods (also known as RoR), is a truck, car, airplane and boat simulator. You can drive, fly or sail in total freedom in an open environment. What makes RoR different to most simulators is its unique soft-body physics: vehicles chassis and wheels are simulated in real-time as flexible objects, giving the simulation an extremely accurate behavior, while allowing the vehicles to be simply specified by their structural composition, as a network of interconnected nodes (forming the chassis and the wheels). Crashing into walls or terrain can permanently deform a vehicle in a realistic manner. In addition to its unique soft-body physics, RoR also features an advanced flight model based on blade element theory, allowing the accurate simulation of any airplane, base on their physical dimensions and wing airfoils. It also features an accurate buoyancy model based on elemental pressure gradients, enabling boats with complex hulls to move realistically in the swell. Rigs of Rods is an amateur game developped by Pierre-Michel Ricordel, aka Pricorde, and is a one man hobby development, with a $0 budget, that has started more than two years ago and is still continuing.

Glest is a fully customizable 3D freeware RTS game.

-ENGINE Modify everythingXML definitions. Every single unit, building, upgrade, faction, resource and all their properties and commands are defined in XML files. Just by creating or modifying the right folder structure and a bunch of XML files, the game can be completely modded, and entire new factions or tech trees can be created.
-G3D models. Glest uses its own 3D format for unit models and animations. We provide a plugin to export from 3DSMax, but tools for Blender are also available.
-Map editor. A simple and easy to use map editor is also available to the public.

A.I. Human players can test their skills against challenging AI controlled opponnents. Glest uses the A* pathfinding algorithm and other well known AI techniques.

Warzone 2010 is a 3D RTS game developed by Pumpkin Studios and published by Eidos Interactive in 1999 for both PC and PlayStation. A fan group called Pumpkin-2 managed to petition Eidos, the legal owner of the source, to make Warzone open-source. Now the game is being developed with lots of features added, such as increased multiplayer unit-limit, support for Glide, several compatibility fixes for Windows XP, and most recently, the introduction of static shadows.

Play it on a LAN, online, one-on-one and against bots.

GUSANOS is an open-source clone of the DOS game Liero. It currently works on Windows and Linux.
In the game each player controls a small worm armed to the teeth and fights other worms in a destructible battleground. It can be described as "Real-time Worms" or "2D Quake", or a combination of both.
The gameplay is as close as possible to Liero's. Hardcore Liero players will feel at home. Newbies, on the other hand, may find the controls hard to dominate at first, but not less enjoyable. Practice makes perfect.
GUSANOS improves greatly on what the original Liero left, adding modern graphics, audio and networking capabilites along with a myriad of other features.
The GUSANOS engine is fully moddable. It achieves this in a Quake-like fashion, so that each mod lives in its own folder without messing with the core game files.
Moddability is present at every level, from graphics to game logic. Hardcore modders get full power with the LUA scripting language. You can use the engine to create an entirely new game (Total Conversion), or simply add a few imaginative weapons.

The object of the game is to build a castle, collect mana, and destroy your enemies. To build a castle, select a location, look at the ground, and cast the build spell. Note, you cannot build castles very close to water or other castles. Your castle starts out small, with only one turret. As more mana is added to your castle, it will gain more turrets. Each turret adds another crane to your castle's defense and another spell to your arsenal. Basically, the game consists of fighting for control of mana. Whenever you encounter another wizard, shoot them with fireballs. If you hit them enough, they will "die" and be sent back to their castle. You are then free to claim all the mana in the area for yourself. Once all the mana has been claimed, attack your enemy's castle to get mana out of it so you can claim it for yourself. Once you enemy's castle is out of mana, you can eliminate it by killing it's heart. When all of your opponents have been banished, you've won.

This is certainly not an average platformer! This is what you get when you make a "Jump'n'Run" game, but leave out the Run. It's all jumping from start to beginning, and you aren't allowed to stop bouncing around.

Funky physics, stylish graphics, catchy music and bunch of weird levels to say it short.

New Quake multiplayer demo based on the v1.4.2 patch
id Software has released a new Quake 4 multiplayer demo which comes with three maps, Verticon (q4xtourney2), Over the Edge (q4dm7) and Speed Trap (q4ctf3). This demo is not compatible with any other versions of the game, including the retail edition. Therefore, players will only be able to connect and play against other Quake v4 1.4.2 demo users.

Alien Arena 2007 6.05, it's open sourced free online deathmatch game featuring a retro sci-fi theme!
Version 6.05 also brings one of the more unique team based game modes - "Cattle Prod" to gamers. This new mode signifies what Alien Arena is all about - and that is moving forward into new areas of gameplay. CarArena is a game by IzE_Design , a Rally game where you play in special circuit in arena, SS. The style is a Cartoon style and the detail of game is very low, but the game is so funny.
You challeng, head to head, an enemy, that is computer or an other player in LAN. The game is made by BLENDER and there are 3 game modes:
- Single Player: You challeng the computer in two different level of difficulty;
- Free Ride: You can drive in all circuit to understand and practice the moviment of the car and the circuit, without lap and time limit;
- Multiplayer: For the first time I have inserted a multiplayer, but this is my first time and this mode does not work very well (so far), you can play in LAN. You can play on Internet through direct-ip.

Racer is a free cross-platform car simulation project (for non-commercial use), using professional car physics to achieve a realistic feeling and an excellent render engine for graphical realism. Cars, tracks and such can be created relatively easy (compared to other, more closed, driving simulations). The 3D, physics and other file formats are documented. StandAlone Q3 (saq3)

StandAlone Q3 is a modified version of the GPL release of Quake 3 allowing to run Quake 3 nods without the need of the official Quake 3 CD.
To run saq3 you need to launch the mod from the command line like that:
- for windows:
quake3.exe +set fs_name fname

- for linux
quake3 +set fs_name fname

Where fname is the folder name of the mod you want to run.

Known working mods are:
- World of Pandam(http://www.worldofpadman.com/ )
- Western Quake 3 ( http://www.westernquake3.net/ )


If most of the mods will run, some shaders and/or textures used by mods may be missing, displaying errors in the game window. When the game and maps are loaded missing textures/shaders are logged in the file "missing_shader-textures.log".

It has been reported that using the "pak0.pk3" file provided in Quake 3 Arena Demo( you need to create the folder "baseq3" in the software directory then copy pak0.pk3 in) may solve most of the shader/texture problems found in several mods and will allow bots to work.
In fact, any .pk3 file you have obtained legally can be added in baseq3 folder to complete missing textures or shaders. You must increment pak number every time you add a new one (pak0.pk3, pak1.pk3, pak2.pk3, etc... )

ASC is a free, turn based strategy game. It is designed in the tradition of the Battle Isle series from Bluebyte and is currently available for Windows and Linux.
ASC is distributed under the terms of the Gnu General Public License (the license Linux uses too), which basically means the game is free, the complete source code is available and you can do everything with it as long as it remains free.

Alien Arena 2007 has been released for Windows and Linux on September 2, 2006, nearly one year after the 2006 version. My how much can change in one year! It's amazing how the community has grown, and helped shape the game into what it is today. It is safe to say, that AA2k7 barely resembles it's predecessor at all.

What is different? Well besides the upgrading of many textures, models, and effects, the engine has gotten a host of new features such as real time shadows, better dynamic lighting, shaders, new mutators, games modes, far too much to list here. CRX 6.0 is not only faster, smoother than before, it's also much more stable and secure. Most of all...it's the maps! With 37 in total, it's hard to believe that so many of the old maps have been discontinued.

Now with Galaxy 2.0 serving as a front end, players can feel more connected to the community than ever before, and track their own as well as other players stats with a click of the mouse! With a built in IRC client, users can chat with others, or stay abreast of latest tourney news, or get help if they have problems with the game.
