Dungeon Maker

Dungeon Maker is a roleplaying game creator and was inspired by all the old Dungeon Crawlers games like Bloodwych, Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder. The idea behind Dungeon Maker is to remake all these old games in a updated engine using all the latest features that PCs can do these days using 3D but to also keep the feeling of playing an old classic game. The beauty of Dungeon Maker is that it is going to be a game plus a game editor so will be fully editable so people can remake there own games.

Pinocchio (3D Skeletal Animation)

Automatic Rigging and Animation of 3D Characters.
Author:"Animating an articulated 3D character currently requires manual rigging to specify its internal skeletal structure and to define how the input motion deforms its surface. This is a tedious process and we describe a method to automate it. Our motivation is to be able to build a system for children and other non-professional animators that, when presented with, for example, an unfamiliar quadruped character, can immediately execute commands such as "make it walk like a dog." To achieve this, we need to be able to embed an existing skeleton into the volume inside a character mesh, and then to attach the mesh vertices to the bones of the embedded skeleton. To our knowledge, this has not been previously attempted."

LASSIE Adventure Studio Rating: 1

Lassie Adventure Studio is a Lucas Arts style adventure game creation utility built with Macromedia Flash and Director to allow quick and easy definition of interactions and environments through a graphical interface. The Lassie engine's default game playback uses a verb disc interaction system very similar to the one seen in the Lucas Arts classic, "The Curse of Monkey Island".
In addition, Lassie Adventure Studio is geared toward non-programmers. If the idea of scripting makes you uncomfortable, you've come to the right place! A collection of pre-authored modules (called TIMe's) have been assembled to control game play and limit the developer's programming to single-line commands. TIMe commands are more of a vocabulary than a scripting language, where key words will trigger specific results.

SLUDGE

SLUDGE (Scripting Language for Unhindered Development of a Gaming Environment) is a shareware adventure game engine developed by Hungry Software. It combines a scripting language with other IDE tools (including a sprite bank editor and a floor region editor). Freeware and commercial adventure games can be created with the engine.
The engine and development kit are freely distributed, meaning that anyone can play and create SLUDGE games. The development kit had certain restrictions which were removed after purchasing a serial number. Because of lack of buyers also the development kit was released as free in 30 December 2006. That was the only change between versions 1.6 and 1.7.

RAYDIUM (Game Engine) Rating: 2

Raydium is a game engine. It provides a set of functions wich allow quick and flexible games creation.
Functions covers things like player inputs (keyboard, mouse, joystick, joypad, force feedback), rendering (3D objets, OSD (On Screen Display)), time (a game must run at the exact same speed on every computer), sound, ... (there's a lot more things to manage, in fact ;)
The project was started in 2001, trying to become a small 3D library, as a training to OpenGL.
But Raydium starts to manage more and more things (time engine, PHP scripting, physics engine, ...), and is now about to become a full "game engine".
As a demonstration, here it is some technical functionalities of Raydium:
Portability (ANSI C) : Linux / Win32 (and probably some others)
OpenGL rendering (80 000 vertices per frame at a correct framerate), fog support, dynamic lighting, transparency, skyboxes, MultiTexturing, MipMapping, ...
Totally simplified API : simple learning curve (example: raydium_object_draw_name("objet.tri"), raydium_sound_load_music("musique.ogg"), ...)
ODE integration (Open Dynamics Engine) in Raydium's core, providing a simple access to a physics engine (see RayODE)
Ingame console, allowing access to Raydium or application on the fly.
PHP Support: PHP/Raydium interface, for a full interaction between PHP and applications. It's possible to write almost all the application with PHP (see RayPHP and RegAPI).
Integrated network API, for multiplayer games in all simplicity.
OpenAL support : sound, music (streaming OGG), 3D source positioning) in a few function calls.
Simplified building scripts and static binaries support for an easy distribution.
Import/export solutions to other 3D formats: 3DStudio, Blender et DirectX (see ImportExportTri).
Joysticks and wheels fore feedback support (Linux only, for now).
Data repositories : Raydium applications can download (or update) missing files. Data uploading is also supported (see R3S).
Lightmaps support, radiosity lightmaps calculations, with FsRadRay (example : http://ftp.cqfd-corp.org/radiosity_tex.png)
GLSL Shaders
Raydium is free software, available under GPL License.
Raydium is designed to be the engine used behind the MeMak project, but some complex tests were already created with this engine, as a few "complete" games: ManiaDrive, NewSkyDiver and Isaac.
There are a lot of others 3D/game engines (and some are very complete, such as Ogre, Crystal Space, ...). Raydium does not try to be as complex as these engines, but contrary, is aiming quick and simple developpement. A good example of this simplicity is NewSkyDiver, a game in less than 750 lines of code.

Arianne (online games engine)

An open source multiplayer online framework to easily create games.
Arianne is a multiplayer online games framework and engine to develop turn based and real time games.
It provides a simple way of creating games on a portable and robust server architecture. The server is coded in Java and uses Python for your game description, provides a MySQL backend and uses an UDP transport channel to communicate with dozens of players.
Our reference client engines are coded using Java and the C language in order to achieve maximum portability.
Arianne has been in development since 1999 and has evolved from a tiny application written in pseudo-C++ to a powerful, expandable but simple server framework, running on the Java platform, and a portable client framework, written in bare C to allow total portability of arianne's clients. Arianne's server is totally client agnostic.

LITE C

The purpose of this lightweight language is the quick and easy creation of multimedia or graphics applications, or 2D and 3D computer games. Its syntax is similar to C. So the source code of a lite-C program can theoretically also be compiled with any other C/C++ compiler. However, due to its native support of multimedia objects like sounds, images, movies, GUI panels, 2D and 3D models, game levels, and rigid body physics you can achieve results with a few lines in lite-C that would require hundreds of source code lines with other C/C++ compilers.
Lite-C is ideal when you don't want to concentrate on programming, but on the content. It's also ideal for learning programming. And for ambitous projects: lite-C supports DLLs and COM (Component Object Model), the Windows API, OpenGL, and DirectX. The lite-C package contains the development environment with editor, compiler, and debugger, and many samples of DirectX, OpenGL, and other multimedia programs. A free 3D model editor for creating 3D content is also available.
Lite-C can be freely downloaded and used for noncommercial purposes. For creating 3D content for lite-C, use the free model editor MED. For starting with lite-C, work through the tutorial.

Simple DirectMedia Layer is a cross-platform multimedia library designed to provide low level access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, 3D hardware via OpenGL, and 2D video framebuffer. PTK is a game engine, also called a SDK (Software Development Kit) that helps you make your own games easily. PTK is a multi-platform 2D game engine with 3D capabilities built around OpenGL or Direct 3D accelerated hardware, however, it is also possible to create 3D multi platform games with OpenGL. Delta 3D (games and simulation engine)

A well-supported open source project, Delta3D is a full-function game engine appropriate for a wide variety of modeling & simulation applications (training, education, visualizations, and entertainment).
Delta3D is an Open Source engine which can be used for games, simulations, or other graphical applications. Its modular design integrates other well-known Open Source projects such as Open Scene Graph, Open Dynamics Engine, Character Animation Library, and OpenAL. Rather than bury the underlying modules, Delta3D just integrates them together in an easy-to-use API -- always allowing access to the important underlying components. This provides a high-level API while still allowing the end user the optional, low-level functionality.Currently, Delta3D is developed and tested on Windows XP using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (7.1) and Fedora Core 4 using gcc 4.0.0. All the underlying dependencies are cross-platform as well, so just about any platform should be compatible with some modifications to the source (only Win32 and Linux are supported at the moment).

It is important to understand that Thousand Parsec is not a game by itself, it is a frame work for creating a similar group of games. Dopo Rpg Maker 2000 (venduto solo in giappone ma di cui esiste una versione tradotta) e Rpg Maker 2003(shareware venduto anch'esso solo in giappone) finalmente la enterbrain ha rilasciato una versione anche in inglese, Rpg Maker XP appunto. Si tratta di un programma che consente di creare il proprio gioco di ruolo ai non-programmatori.
