The Lord of The Rings Online Goes Free-to-Play This Fall

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that Turbine, Inc. will unveil a major update this fall, making The Lord of the Rings Online™ (LOTRO) free-to-play for everyone. Extending its award-winning story, LOTRO delivers the ultimate adventure featuring a massive world with state-of-the-art graphics and gameplay, and a rich set of features that until now could only be found in premium subscription-based online games.

Launching this fall across North America and Europe, with Codemasters operating the game free-to-play in Europe, LOTRO will introduce Turbine’s innovative new pricing model that allows players to download the game and play for free, purchase expansions, quest packs, items, and account services a la carte from the new LOTRO Store, or join the VIP program to get unlimited access to all of the game’s content for one low price. Players interested in getting a sneak peek of the new LOTRO can sign up for a chance to participate in the Beta program which begins June 16, 2010.

LOCO Land Of Chaos Online

Burda:ic GmbH announced they have acquired the rights to LOCO, Land of Chaos Online, a tactical-action-online-RPG developed by Danal Entertainment and set to enter closed beta later this year. The game will be available via their portal and it will be localized in multiple languages like English, French, Spanish, German and more. LOCO takes the player into a fascinating fantasy world – with numerous imaginative, colourful characters – where a mix of real time tactics and role-playing awaits the players.

Angels Fall First: Planetstorm

Planetstorm is a multiplayer scifi war game fought both in space and on the ground, featuring large detailed environments and a beautiful arsenal of innovative millitary hardware. Crew gigantic capital ships in first person, pilot fighters and launch dropships to board other vessels, or wield advanced ground assault vehicles, infantry and aero-craft to achieve victory.

This demo contains two reworked maps covering both space and ground combat, plus all the hardware from battleships, tanks and railguns to autoturrets, cloaking suits and incendiary grenades. The demo has both offline bot support and online multiplayer capability.

Blood Frontier

UPDATE:The Author of this game officially stated that the game is closed. Downloads are still in place just for archiving purpose.

Blood Frontier is a Free and Open Source game, using SDL and OpenGL which allows it to be ported to many platforms; The game is available for Windows, Linux/BSD and Mac OSX.

The game is a single-player and multi-player first-person ego-shooter, built as a total conversion of Cube Engine 2, which lends itself toward a balanced gameplay, completely at the control of map makers, while maintaining a general theme of agility in a low gravity environment. In a true open source by the people for the people nature, it tries to work closely with the gaming and open source communities to provide a better overall experience, taking all sorts of feedback from your average player, to your seasoned developer, aiming to create a story-driven game environment that is flexible, fun, easy to use, and pleasing to the eye.
