Dawn of War 3 will be free to play and more mmo oriented a-la Company of Heroes Online, don’t hold your breath through since we won’t see anything before 2-3 years… Meanwhile they will release a new expansion for Dow 2 named retribution in march 2011.

The expansion will have new content, such as maps,units and the single player campaign will be playable by all the races not just space marines.. about the new multiplayer playable race.. speculation on the web point to a hybrid Inquisition-IG army..

If you own Dow 2 and or Chaos Rising there is a nice mod under developing.. It’s about the Space hulk, Terminators versus Tyranids in huge floating abandoned starships, i wonder why thq relic didn t make this official easnted of proposing the last stand..

The first data-disk of dow2 is almost here, this is a thing all the dow 2 fans already well know..
Those who won’t buy the expansion will get a new unit, a big patch and some maps.
Those who will buy the expansion will get:
-Chaos Army
-A new (useless?) single player campaign

At the actual price (30 euro) i am not going to buy this, it s just not enough for me to justify the buying, i am not a big fan of Chaos Marines, plus is still a 3 vs 3 with just the adiction of f4all mode.
In addiction i found the single player campaign (dow 2) terribly boring.
I don t wanna bash THQ or Relic at all, in fact i am glad they make wh40k rts game, but to me Dow 2 is bad designed since the beginning.. so i hope they will bypass Company of Heroes 2 and will start to work on Dow 3 as soon as possible 😆

As (probably) all dawn of war 2 owners knows, today should be released via steam the free download content Last Stand. Happy gaming. 😉

The Last Stand is a cooperative survival mode that gives gamers control of an individual hero unit and drops a small multiplayer team into a battle with impossible odds. Players can choose between a Space Marine Captain, Eldar Farseer or Ork Mekboy and will team up with two other squad-mates in an attempt to hold out as long as possible against wave after wave of relentless attackers.

Hero units level up and are fully customizable as new armor and weapons become available from game to game. Every new unlock gives your hero unique abilities or passive skill traits exclusive to The Last Stand. Working together to devise innovative strategies is the key to success in this brand-new battle mode.

Each wave in The Last Stand is significantly more difficult and deadlier than the previous wave. The Last Stand is addictive, fast-paced, and full of relentless action. Play for survival or play for high score, both will earn you a place on leaderboards for ultimate bragging rights. The Last Stand is the third pillar to campaign and PvP game modes in Dawn of War II. I heard about this game a lot of time ago, it is a mmo-rts, where your kingdom’s city is persistant.
There is a new video, it says the game will exit in 2010.

If you wanna partecipate to the Closed beta you must register at their forum before 15th september 2009.
