Varia is a “shmup”, or shoot-em-up, of the arcade variety that many grew up with, not the modern FPS games. In Varia, you control a ship with which you must defeat 4 levels chocked full of enemies, bosses and mini-bosses. The game draws inspiration from many other shmups, such as Raiden 2, Ikaruga, Gradius V, and Cho Ren Sha 68k.

Dr. Glowenko is a mad scientist who succeeded to connect living brain into a computer with the aid of his designdrug, TAGAP (Tissue-Augmenting, Green, Addictive Pill). Your task is to kill everything and locate the exit. Keep doing this until you face the big boss and nail it to win the game.

UPDATE July 2008: In the new version of DOFUS, much of the game has been redone. The game client has been entirely rewritten and communication with the servers has been revised and optimised by our development team to deliver better performance and to allow future expansions to evolve more freely. But DOFUS 2.0 has also (and above all) been about improving the graphic content of the game. Every map, every object, every character, every monster has been redrawn and reintegrated. The entire game world has been reworked so that you’ll be drawn even further into the World of Twelve.
The game is another topdown shooter, based on the concept of Americas Army, Soldat, and Unreal Tournament. The final release was to be online-only (with offline training missions), with many features like ConflictED Map Editor, server-filters, account statistics, and much more. However, after GameCave has closed down and the developers are each going through their own priority commitments, we have had to make the sacrifice of taking out online gameplay.
