Knights of War

Knights of War – A game by Vedran Drazeta

Knights of War is a turn-based strategy game set in medieval England. It was influenced by simillar games like Warlords, Shogun Total War and Heroes of Might and Magic. Player can choose between eight lords to play with, each having different bonuses. The main objective of the game is to capture all England’s provincies by defeating all of your enemies and therefore to unite all England under your rule. To do this, you will have to develop your economy, build structures, improve technologies, conduct diplomacy and raise strong armies. There are three AI types to choose for your computer opponents. Knight is the weakest AI type, warlord the strongest while lord is somewhere in between those two. There is also hotseat mode which allows two or more players to play on the same device by taking turns playing the game.

DC Universe Online NO Monthly Fee?

DC Comics Universe Online NO Monthly Fee?

DC Universe Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the DC Universe. SOE hopes to make a different kind of MMORPG, with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction being cited as one of the main inspirations for gameplay. SOE is working to make DC Universe Online more interactive than standard MMORPGs, while trying to keep key elements of RPGs, which include a leveling system and inventories. The world is mainly shared, public space instead of heroes or villains owning territory. The public space features dynamically-generated content designed for both hero and villain player characters (uniquely created by the player, who cannot choose DCU stalwarts), which may lead to interesting Player Versus Player battles.

It is known that players choose a city of origin for their character, the currently known cities being Metropolis and Gotham City. Another location currently known to be in the game is Arkham Asylum, Gotham City’s mental institution for criminals (including a number of Batman’s more psychopathic enemies, such as the Joker, Poison Ivy, the Riddler, and Two-Face). The character is given either a Justice League or a Legion of Doom communicator – depending on their choice of playing as either a hero or a villain – and the character’s allegiance will affect how the game is played; for example, a hero character may encounter a thug robbing an armored truck while a villain character will instead rob (or, depending on character level, assist in the robbing of) said armored truck. It is also known that player characters have threat ratings which will cause both heroes and villains alike to interact accordingly with the character.

DC Universe Online or DCUO is a MMORPG being developed by Sony Online Austin. Jim Lee serves as the game’s Executive Creative Director, along with Carlos D’Anda, JJ Kirby, Oliver Nome, Eddie Nunez, Livio Ramondelli, and Michael Lopez. EverQuest developers Chris Cao and Shawn Lord are also involved. When asked whether the game would require a monthly subscription to play, or free to play, Sony’s Wes Yanagi gave OneLastContinue a very strong impression that they are leaning towards the expansion-pack business model, as opposed to the traditional subscription fee although such matters hadn’t been solidified yet over at Sony Online Entertainment.

According to various website the new mmo superhero game from SONY will have no monthly fee, after buying the game it will be free to play, a similar business model like Guild Wars. These are just rumors, btw i think wouldn’t be bad to do a trip to Metropolis or Gotham City.

The game has been scheduled for release between late 2009 and early 2010.

Farewell Star Trek..

Recently i watched Star Trek 2009 movie.
Is it possible to destroy a saga, simply with one movie? Yes, that’s what they did.
I like Star Trek Universe, i liked this movie and probably many enjoyed it, but among other little things this movie has a big problem: THE STORY. As director J.J.Abrams said he wanted to do a Star Trek movie in the style of Star Wars, well he did a pretty good job, actually the film plays and feels exactly like a Star Wars Movie, the problem is he erased completely Star Trek. Re-invented, Reboot, starting from zero, this was made pretty good in BattleStar Galactica (except for the finale), but in my opinion with Star Trek they went too far.
Now let’s go in order to explain this ‘masterpiece’:
STOP reading here if you haven’t watched this movie yet, the following text contains spoilers!

-The EnterPrise Bridge looks like a giant I-Pod (white)
-Why Romulus can’t be evacuated?
-How the hell a miner-ship is close to the super nova?
-Once Nero jumps, why he don’t go to Romulus warning them that the star will die in 130 years?
-If the Star goes SuperNova, or it’s transformed in a black hole, Romulus is doomed.. so why the Hell is Spock ‘s fault?
-Vulcan is destoryed and with it, hundreds of stories and great moments in movies 2 and 3.
-Where is the Vulcan Fleet?
-When Nero attacks Earth, where are the Planetary defense? Not even a catapult?
-When Vulcan and entire race is destroyed there is no epic, i mean Enterprise crew feels emotionless, probably they are thinking what to eat at dinner?
-The Enterprise engine rooms looks like a 20th century power plant…
-The StarFleet Accademy looks like a high-school assembly…
-If they can transport (beam) people on unthinkable distances (thanks to Scotty’s future formula) why they just don’t use it to kill Nero and his crew?
-Where are the ‘Time Cops’? If you watched the series you know they prevent timeline to alter.
-In the movie they say the star (going supernova) could destroy the galaxy.. well ok they don’t give details, the Q Race can’t do that cause The Guardians wouldn’t allow and scientifically we can’t deny (nor prove) something like this exist, but man this sounds like a bad lazy joke.
-At the end of the movie there is no reset. This alternative timeline is the new timeline.

Ok as a movie if you don’t think too much it’s a nice movie, the battles, the visuals, the action, and some good actors too, i think one of the mistakes was to call this Star Trek 2009, just call it Star Trek Re-invented or Star Trek New Universe. This could have been a great movie and in many parts it is, but it feels more like a half-finished commercial product. I will watch the second movie (2011?) but from now i know the old Star Trek is no more.. I am not an ‘integralist’ trekkie anyway, just a fan.
They will never do, but one can hope they will do a proper finale for the old saga, The Nemesis finale wasn’t good at all.. it was too much ‘burocratic’.
Thanks for reading my rants.

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the second Punic War

A strategy game themed during the first age of Rome, during the Punic Wars. As you can see the graphic style reminds how (probably) the general’s map of that age looked.
