As you can see after War of the Roses, there is a new contender to Mount and Blade 1-2. The game is currently in alpha stage so it is a bit early to talk about it, but it shows some good points, first as you can see from the gif there is some average gore, for the moment only beheading, no arms, legs or limbs but who knows.. they could implement a fully gore, also the game is powered by the Unreal engine 3 which means better visuals compared to M&B, then it is told that the game will be 16 vs 16 battle, which is little compared to 220 of M&B, as far as i can see there is no horse, no mounted combat, which was one of the best thing that i liked in M&B. The melee combat system i think from what i saw it s more easy compared to M&B, hopefully the game will be playable on third persons view rather than just first person, coz while it works for archers, sword fighting is better in third person view in my opinion. Last but not least it is also worth mentioning that the game is made by the same developers who made Age of Chivalry, which was a mod for Half life 2.
