i love how this game is open for contribution.
u can make ur own maps, campaign, and this game still has many ‘official unit’ without pictures that most people can start contributing. also, they accept many units from custom maps that they find very good.
ps. idk why, but i guess its because i play fire emblem often, the style of hex game where strategy is keeping the front line really makes the game hard for me 😀
(RPG feature in this game is minor. its just luck of turning the battle to ur side slightly, not ‘we got marine who just became master chief! lets pwn those aliens!’)
so yea, this game has TONS of stuff based on luck (in random map, ur location. attack/defense is lucks also, specially counter death (where ur unit can survive a enemy turn, but died because it killed enemy unit, thus another enemy unit was able to attack)
but i find those lucks of attack, defense, traits are minor, tho they do huge effect, (resilient + strength compared to quick and intelligent is huge HP difference) stratagy can overcome everything. (like one campaign where u have to fight enemy lvl2s with ur lvl 0 for like half of your campaign.)
