Lately i was wondering.. is there something new in the gaming industry?
Don’t misunderstand me, i like games like bf2, cod4, guild wars etc etc..
But still i am curious if gamemakers can do something new with the if..then
machine invented 50 years ago (the computer).
I think this list can give a glimpse of something new on the horizon..
(please note games are not in any favourite order)
Guild Wars 2
A massive, gorgeous mmo, what’s new u’ll say? It’s the first real mmo
to have no monthly fee…
Spore
From sim-creator comes this particular game. You start as a bacteria
to evolve until becoming a space-god entity with a galactic empire.
Total War:Empire
A living and breathing 1700-1800 era with the addition of real time
naval battles where crew enter the fights as well. Amazing.
GTA 4
Ok this maye it’s not new, or maybe yes.. The formula is the same
seen in previous chapters with addition of some multiplayer modes
and gorgeous looking graphics.
Mirror’s Edge
Not sure about this.. Should be a 3d action-adventure made by
legendary dice developers. The new thing is that you can interact
with the enviroment with the full parts of your (character) body.
Physyx Engine.
The next big thing? As you know the ageia was acquired by nvidia.
What about games with full destructible enviroments, thousands
of debris that float at full speed and other spectacular mess..
I think at this point is pretty hard to come up with a game ‘new’
most of the games today were already made good or bad, do you think
they will come up with something new? Do we need new ‘books’? or
we are just fine as far as they keep writing good books?
And you what do you think? Do you think there is something new
that deserve a place in this tiny list i made? Rock on dudes and
cya.
Just a quick note, the Guild Wars 2, Spore, Total war etc etc, are hyperlinks which you can get more info on this games…
Yo!
Nice subject.
I think only spore represents something new; bad or good? we’ll see.
Gw2, no monthly fee…ok, but it’s a commercial model, nothing involving gameplay.
I didn’t know about mirror’s edge.
I think that the news will be the cross over between different kind of games, like mmorpg-fps or action-rts.
What i’d like to see in videogames is not only a graphic re-edition of classic, but something that really brings out the true potential of the new powerful pc. Maybe a dream, ’cause most of the software houses prefer to invest their money in reliable and sure projects.
Ma perché scrivo in inglese? XD
Hi mughini eh eh..
I think you have a good point there, i can say there are many original gameplay in some ‘old’ games for example…
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/159650.html (sid meier pirates)
or really old..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_Excalibur (spirit of Excalibur)
Si puo’ usare l’italiano o l’inglese, usando l’inglese c’è più gente (in teoria) che puo’ partecipare alla discussione..
Ciao. 😉
EA bought some of the most innovative software house like Bullfrog, Westwood and Origin i think will be difficult to see many original games on pc
😀
